The Apache Junction Police Department is asking for the community’s help following the arrest of a 32-year-old man in connection with the kidnapping and assault of an 18-year-old woman.
At approximately 1 a.m. on Sept. 24 the woman was arriving home from work in the area of 16th Avenue and San Marcos Drive when a man allegedly approached her at gunpoint and forced her to leave with him. The man was later identified as Pedro A. Espinoza Torres, 32, police said.
The woman was held against her will for several hours and reportedly assaulted multiple times before being released. She suffered severe injuries and later sought treatment at a local hospital, where staff notified law enforcement.
