Tempe declares Sept. 25 ‘9-2-5 Day’

The city of Tempe has declared Sept. 25 9-2-5 Day in the city to honor the singer and philanthropist Dolly Parton after her passing.

On Aug. 25, Parton died at the age of 86 from complications with cancer. Now, communities across the country are recognizing Sept. 25 in her honor to immortalize the singer and her 1980 No. 1 song “9 to 5.”

From California to Tennessee, cities have honored the late legend with donations to her Imagination Library to help improve literacy rates for children.
