New Kiwanis Park playground to open

Celebrate the reopening of the Kiwanis Park north play area with a free Arts in the Parks event, featuring a ribbon cutting, live music, food trucks, arts activities and the Tempe Play Mobile.

The public is invited to the park on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5233 S. Ash Avenue to celebrate the opening and enjoy outdoor fun.

New Kiwanis Park playground to open

Celebrate the reopening of the Kiwanis Park north play area with a free Arts in the Parks event, featuring a ribbon cutting, live music, food trucks, arts activities and the Tempe Play Mobile.

The public is invited to the park on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5233 S. Ash Avenue to celebrate the opening and enjoy outdoor fun. 

Meet artist Bobby Zokaites, who designed the park's climbable public art sculpture, and enjoy the park improvements, which include:

  • Total renovation and expansion of the existing playground with all new equipment and accessible rubber surfacing
  • New large group ramada
  • Climbable public art sculpture 
  • New shade structures
  • Additional new trees and landscape
  • Irrigation upgrades
  • New restroom and concession buildin
  • Improved accessible parking and ramps

Live music includes the Haley Green Band at 6 p.m. and Lunes at 7p.m.

 

Refreshments: 

Free water and sweet treats and food trucks: Sho Lov, Habanero's Tacos and Pedaling Paletas 
 

Arts activities:

Enjoy a watercolor art project facilitated by local artist Kyllan Maney and a Bag Charm art activity facilitated by local artists Megan Hennessy.
