Join a League with the City of Tempe
For a weekly activity and to meet people from around the Valley, Tempe offers adult leagues for basketball, volleyball, softball and soccer.
All players must be 18 or older and must register at tempe.gov/sports-adults and pay the registration fee.
Leagues often meet weekly and different sports are hosted year-round.
Take a hike in Tempe
With temperatures dropping below 100 degrees, hiking season is back in the Valley. Hayden Butte, better known as A Mountain, is one of the most popular hiking spots in Tempe and most of the trail is paved, offering an easy walkway for a difficult climb.
Places near Tempe include South Mountain, with trailheads in South Phoenix and Ahwatukee and Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley.
All hikers should bring water and turn back before the water runs out.
Now through Oct. 29 at Kiwanis Pool at 6111 S. All America Way, kids swim free with an adult. Up to two kids ages 10 and under qualify and must swim 5-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Children under 7 years old must have an adult with them at all times.
