Suspects face animal cruelty charges in dog abandonment: Surprise PD

A woman and man will be charged with animal cruelty after they turned themselves in to authorities after an abandoned dog was found near a walking trail in Surprise, police said.

On March 8, Surprise police responded to Peoria Avenue and Perryville Road after a woman reported finding the dog.

A homeowner's security camera captured footage of a red SUV backing up on a road behind a house.

“The footage showed the opening of the passenger door and the dog being pushed out by someone while they said, ‘Bye, Bye,’” a Surprise Police Department release stated.

The video provided by the homeowner helped authorities identify those inside the SUV.

On March 10, 2025, Logan Gambill, 20, of Wittmann and Priscilla Galanos, 26, of Phoenix turned themselves in to the Surprise Police Department.

Police determined Galanos owned the dog, and she faces an animal cruelty charge. Gambill will be charged with conspiracy to commit animal cruelty, police said.

Surprise police plan to turn the dog over to Arizona Humane Society.
