The Surprise Police Department is expected to continue its participation in the Arizona Vehicle Theft Task Force for up to the next four years.
The Surprise City Council is likely to accept an intergovernmental agreement with the Arizona Department of Public Safety for the Police to provide one full-time AZ P.O.S.T. certified sworn law enforcement officer to the task force.
The new agreement that would renew each July 1 for up to four years is up for vote as part of the consent agenda at the regular city council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.
