Several organizations and services for people with military ties and interests were recently represented at the city of Surprise’s first Vet Fest event.
Active duty veterans, retirees, any who served in the military or considering enlisting, and military families had a one-stop-shop opportunity to connect and learn about the support and resources available to them at the inaugural event held Feb. 10 in the parking lot of Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.
“In case a veteran has a problem, all of these organizations that are here somehow help veterans or can direct veterans,” said Phillip Lair, of the Surprise Veterans, Disability and Human Services Commission, which hosted the event. “Everybody knows a veteran.”
