Mosaic Gardens giving residents chance to plant, design their own

Mosaic Management, a premiere senior living company located on the West Coast, has partnered with Seattle-based Eldergrow to bring nature indoors to their residents.

The partnership is launching locally at Mosaic Gardens at Surprise, 16465 N. Parkview Place, where residents will get the opportunity to design and plant their new indoor sensory gardens.

A public unveiling of the project is coming at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12 at Mosaic.

Eldergrow’s indoor garden programs are centered around mobile, indoor gardens handcrafted by veterans and adults living with disabilities. Each of the Mosaic communities will receive two Therapeutic Horticulture Gardens designed for residents living in Memory and Skilled Care settings.

“It brings us gratitude that our residents can safely interact with nature throughout their days. Eldergrow and our incredible staff now make that possible,” said Rocio Busby, executive director at Mosaic Gardens at Surprise.

The gardens come with a full-service Therapeutic Horticulture program with in-person Educators who teach evidence-based, therapeutic horticulture classes twice a month. Studies have shown that horticultural therapy reduces depression, improves self-esteem, improves balance, coordination, and endurance, and can lower the risk factors for dementia by 36%.

“We are thrilled to grow in this partnership with Mosaic,” said Orla Concannon, Eldergrow’s CEO and founder. “Any company willing to go above and beyond by innovating for their residents is a company with whom we want to grow. Mosaic’s team truly works towards the best and provides the most innovative wellness programs for their residents.”
