Thunderbirds Charities recently granted Surprise-based nonprofit Benevilla $30,000 to support the Benefitness Adaptive Gym Membership Assistance Program.

Benevilla officials said the funding will help provide access to fitness services for adults with different abilities, special considerations and chronic medical conditions who may otherwise be unable to afford a gym membership.

Benefitness Adaptive Gym, 16752 N. Greasewood St., is designed to meet the unique needs of people with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, stroke recovery and other age-related health conditions.

The Membership Assistance Program, which is part of the Benevilla family of programs, ensures all community members regardless of income can access the specialized, therapeutic movement programs that help improve strength, mobility, brain health and overall quality of life.

“This grant from Thunderbirds Charities helps us remove financial barriers for seniors and those living with disabilities,” Benevilla President and CEO Joanne Byers said. “We are deeply grateful for their continued support and investment in the health and independence of our community members.”

The Benefitness team includes trained exercise specialists who work closely with each member to develop safe, customized programs that emphasize progress, not perfection.

Thunderbirds Charities has a long history of partnering with nonprofits across the Valley to improve the lives of children, families, and seniors.

“Their contribution to Benevilla’s mission exemplifies their commitment to fostering inclusive and healthier communities,” Benevilla officials wrote in a news release.
