While Friends of the Surprise Libraries make a difference in the community one book at a time, charitable efforts have reached over $1 million as of Nov. 1.
“I did not think I would get to $1 million this year. We put $1 million in the community helping teachers, helping students and helping the community,” said Friends of the Surprise Libraries President Aly Cline, giving an update on the charitable contributions from the compact library found inside the Surprise Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Ave.
Her husband Gary, a U.S. Navy veteran, is the treasurer. He and her assistant provided an itemized breakdown of where many of the funds from book sales went from helping local schools to fulfilling teachers’ wishes.
