The monthly pop-up, First Friday Surprise is 6–9 p.m. Nov. 6, surrounding the outside of the Arts HQ Gallery, 16126 N. Civic Center Plaza.
The city’s civic core space turns in to a venue for artisans, food vendors, a live performance area, a monthly culinary competition, room for workshops, featured artist showcases and more from the front of Arts HQ Gallery west past the Xeriscape Demonstration Garden.
A walkable route with makers at both ends, the first season launched in Surprise last fall, and was in front of local coffee shop Spencer’s Place. The event has grown from 30 vendors to double that amount for Season Two, which began Oct 2.

The remaining pop-ups are Dec. 4, Jan. 1, Feb. 5, March 5, April 2 and May 7. Admission is free. The season also partners with the West Valley Arts Council, which serves artists across the West Valley from its Arts HQ Gallery headquarters.
Each month of Season Two has a themed-night, giving the district a different character every first Friday. Every First Friday Surprise spotlights a local nonprofit, giving the organization a platform to raise awareness and support its mission.
