Using cell phones may not be allowed in many classrooms, but the cell towers are permitted at Dysart schools to generate revenue for the district.
The Dysart Unified School District governing board members heard an Oct. 5 presentation on the cell tower agreements the district has to allow telecom carriers to install, maintain and access equipment on school sites, with rent payments, routine maintenance notices and emergency access. While the ownership of towers differ, some are district-owned and others are carrier-owned, according to a staff report.
During the meeting, DUSD Director of Planning and Development Christian Godoy presented information on the district’s current cell tower agreements, including site locations, agreement terms and the revenue generated from the agreements.
