Marone: Take ‘refund’ from stimulus check received

Posted

People, people, people. I won’t go into the technical aspects of the annual property assessment fee as they have been thoroughly explained by Board President Dan Schroeder, if you took the time to read the article (“Update on RCSC reopening plans,” Sun City Independent, May 20, 2020).

What I will say is the fee is $496 per year, which comes to $41.33 per month. The facilities closed at the end of business March 17 and reopened May 19. That is two months that equals $82.66 that you want back. Now I can only assume that you all got a generous stimulus check for $1,200. I know myself that I’m collecting Social Security and am still getting my monthly payments, so no real hardship there.

In fact, since we have been at a “stay at home” restriction, I’ve been saving money. So what I say to you is subtract that $82.66 from your $1,200 or $2,400 and you are still ahead! If you can find a better place to live that offers more for the price, I say go for it and move on.

No one wanted this pandemic and there is no rule book for it!
