The Scottsdale Industrial Development Authority, responsible for issuing tax-exempt revenue bonds to expand on local economic and business development, announced that it has disbursed $80,000 in education grants to community organizations.

In continuing its goal of supporting community programs that better the city, the Scottsdale IDA has released more grants with an educational focus.

Delegating the $80,000, the Scottsdale IDA gave grants to support educational programming led by three nonprofits: the Arizona Foundation for Women, Million Dollar Teacher Project and ALL In Education.

The largest grant given out was to ALL In Education, which received a $50,000 grant. As explained on the group’s website, its mission seeks to create an Arizona where all communities have access to opportunities and justice.

In an email from Scottsdale IDA’s vice president and board member Eloy Yndigoyen, he wrote that the grant funds were used to facilitate the Parent Educator Academy workshop at Scottsdale Unified School District.

“The ALL In Education Parent Educator Academy is paving the way to meaningful family engagement and involvement, the development of social capital, intellectual capital and community transformation,” Yndigoyen detailed.

He further explained that the PEA develops leadership skills in caregivers to allow them to better support students as they navigate “the virtual and classroom learning environment, the school system and [having] agency over decisions that affect their families and communities.” According to him, ALL In partnered with SUSD to implement the workshop at Yavapai Elementary School.

Arizona Foundation for Women received the second largest grant in the amount of $20,000. The grant was disbursed to the foundation’s She Leads program, a women-focused leadership development program designed by women, for women with the mission of advancing more women into leadership positions.

Yndigoyen wrote that the funds given will be put toward supporting and maintaining the 2023 cohort of the She Leads program.

The final grant, which totaled $10,000, was awarded to Million Dollar Teacher Project. According to the organization’s website, it was established in October of 2016 to serve as a tool to strengthen schools in Arizona.

With the grant funding, Million Dollar Teacher is helping to arrange four recognition events for teachers through its Take a Teacher to Lunch program and to organize a classroom supply drive for teachers.

“The first event was held in early August where Million Dollar Teacher partnered with Culinary Dropout to host a classroom supply drive for teachers at Pima Traditional School,” Yndigoyen added.

The Take Your Teacher to Lunch program is organized once per quarter throughout the school year.
