MCSO arrests McDonald’s employee attempting fake robbery of $22,000

Posted

A McDonald’s employee and her boyfriend were arrested after attempting to get away with a $22,000 deposit by reporting a fake robbery, according to the sheriffs office.

The Maricopa County Sheriffs Office District II station reports that on Nov. 13, deputies arrested and booked Ashley Stewart, 24, and Alexander Reyna, 35.

According to MCSO, Ms. Stewart, a Gila Bend McDonald’s employee, called 911 after attempting to deposit $22,000 for her employer at a Western National Bank. She said a man held her at gun point, took the cash, and then fled into a desert area.

When questioning Ms. Stewart, District II detectives felt her story and allegations lacked credibility. Eventually she confessed to planning a fake robbery with Mr. Reyna.

She told detectives the two planned to split the money.

Both were booked on charges but have since been released.
