Posted

A 58-year-old man has been booked on a second-degree murder charge in connection with the shooting death of his twin brother, Surprise police said.

Michael Leone was arrested just after noon Oct. 18 near 174th Avenue and Woodrow Lane where police responded after 911 callers reported a shooting.

When authorities arrived, they found Michael Leone with his hands in the air and his twin Nicholas Leone dead inside his nearby home, police said Thursday in a release.

Officers said they learned that the brothers were arguing and exchanged gunfire. Nicholas Leone was struck several times. His brother was not hit.

Michael Leone was booked into the Maricopa County Intake, Transfer and Release Jail on charges of second-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and failure to comply with a court order.
