Fentanyl dealer sentenced to prison for Mesa overdose death

James Amalfi, 45, was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of manslaughter, a class 2 felony, in connection with an overdose death of a Mesa man.

In December 2024, the Mesa Police Department responded to a call about an unresponsive individual. The victim’s wife was in the hospital after giving birth to their second child and asked her mother to check in on her husband when she was unable to contact him.

When officers arrived at the home, they found the victim, Ryan Brown, lying on his back on top of his bed. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a release.
