Employee hurt during shoplifting at Arizona Mills, suspects flee: Tempe PD

Tempe police are searching for three people who are suspected of stealing from a kiosk at Arizona Mills on Saturday, injuring an employee who attempted to get the merchandise back.

The incident, which originally was reported as a possible shooting, occurred about 5 p.m. Aug. 5 at the mall, 5000 S. Arizona Mills Mall Circle, police said. The mall has a designated police officer who responded  and determined there was no shooting or gunshot wound victims.

The suspects shoplifted items from a stand-alone kiosk, police said in a release, and the kiosk employee tried to get the property back when a fight broke out.

The victim injured his head when he was knocked down and hit a piece of furniture.

Tempe Fire and Medical Rescue provided aid to the victim at the scene, and he was released.

The three suspects, described as two black women and one black man in their late teens to early 20’s,  fled on foot through the mall.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspects to call the department’s non-emergency number: 480-350-8311.
