East Valley man suspected of robbing Mesa bank with glue gun, fleeing on scooter

A 47-year-old Mesa man has been arrested and charged with bank robbery after stealing cash from a credit union, authorities said.

Terrell Maurice Mars was arrested on April 18, officials with the Arizona district of the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Friday.

The complaint alleges that, on April 18, Mars entered a credit union in Mesa, “waving what appeared to be a handgun and directing the employees and customers to get down,” a U.S. Attorney’s Office release stated.

“Mars then demanded money from the tellers, and later the bank manager, who complied. After leaving the credit union with the stolen cash, witnesses observed Mars flee on an electric scooter.”

Mesa police officers found Mars hiding under a truck in a nearby apartment parking lot. He was taken into custody without incident and had the same amount of cash that was stolen from the credit union, according to the release.

Police officers also found a hot glue gun near Mars “that looked like the ostensible handgun he was seen carrying in credit union surveillance video.”
