Now that Buckeye has either houses or commercial or industrial development happening nearly everywhere, it’s time for the city to improve roads and intersections.
A handful of those improvements are on the consent agenda Tuesday night. The Buckeye City Council is set to meet at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 530 E. Monroe Ave.
One consent agenda item is an on-call consulting for engineering and architectural services contract with Kimley-Horn & Associates Inc. for intersection improvements at Miller and Baseline roads. This would cost the city about $580,000.
The second consent agenda item is a similar contract with Cardno Inc. for Watson Road improvements from Durango Street to Lower Buckeye Road. This has a maximum price of $390,000.
Stanley Consultants Inc. is set to receive a nearly $1.37 million contract for the design of Watson Road from MC85 to Southern Avenue.
The consent agenda also includes approvals of three maps of dedication for upcoming projects.
Colt Concrete Inc. will demolish and replace the decaying driveway of Fire Station 701 for $196,000 if the consent agenda is approved.
There are several items council is set to address this week regarding its change at the city manager position.
Roger Klingler, city manager since 2017, is retiring, and approval of his Feb. 1 separation agreement is on Tuesday’s consent agenda. That agenda also includes an interim city manager agreement for Assistant City Manager James Shano, who would make a pro-rated salary equal to $235,000 annually if approved.
The council was set to meet late Monday, holding an executive session to discuss or consider the employment of candidate Daniel Cotterman for the position of city manager of Buckeye. The meeting agenda also included a public-portion option provide direction to staff and take action regarding the position.
In Tuesday’s regular meeting, the council will consider the increase of its municipal court enhancement fee from $10 per case to $20 per violation. This was proposed at a January meeting, but tabled until a more detailed report could be produced.
Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., the council will hold a workshop and hear presentations on five-year capital improvement program projects from Community Services, Information Technology and the police and fire departments.
