Proposition 428, which asks Peoria Unified School District voters to approve a 13% maintenance and operations budget override, has jumped out to an early lead in the 2026 general election, according to unofficial results.
The override, which funds people and programs in the district, is one of three propositions set before Peoria voters this election. Voters failed to approve a 15% override in the election last year, and without voter reauthorization this year, the district will have to cut a total of $33 million by fiscal year 2029.
Early results show the override has 52% with 30,692 votes in favor, and 48% with 28,252 votes in opposition,
