Carla Mungai, 85, is one of the new members of Arrowhead-West Phoenix Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club.
Mungai plays soccer, pickleball, bowls and felt she had to quit skiing at 70 because of the fast and intimidating snowboards.
On July 26 in a soccer tournament in Burlington, Vermont, she was playing soccer with a Stayin’ Alive team where she scored a goal.
Mungai owns an online bookstore and has been assisting the Chapter Literacy Committee, of which she is a member, by donating books to the club’s Little Free Libraries.
Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she worked for the U.S. Census.
She is an example of mental and physical fitness for the young members of Pi Beta Phi and women worldwide.
Mungai was initiated at New York Gamma in 1960 where she attended St. Lawrence University obtaining a BS in Economics.
The Arrowhead-West Phoenix Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club was chartered on Nov. 4, 2000, as a means of better serving the large number of metro West Phoenix Pi Phis, including those living in Glendale, Surprise, Peoria, Litchfield Park, Wickenburg, Goodyear, Buckeye, Avondale, and more.
