Arizona cities join lawsuit against fire truck manufacturers

Experts claim anticompetitive mergers have inflated costs, caused substantial delays of critical fire fighting equipment

A variety of Arizona cities and towns are suing New York-based private equity firm American Industrial Partners, Wisconsin-based Rev Group, and other entities, accusing fire truck manufacturers of monopolizing the industry and stifling competition through aggressive, unfair corporate mergers and acquisitions.

The lawsuit states that during the past decade the companies have inflated the cost of fire trucks and related apparatuses to fire departments nationwide, some complaints alleging price increases of more than 100% for certain apparatuses.

In a statement sent to Independent Newsmedia, AIP said it “disagrees with the allegations in the complaint and intends to defend itself vigorously.”
