The seven-member board conducts hearings and makes recommendations to the Mesa City Council on requests for changes in zoning and on required site plans. The board also considers and recommends changes in the city’s long-range plans and in the municipal code concerning planning and zoning matters, according to the city’s website.

The Salad and Go restaurant with a drive-through is planned on 0.9 acres on the south side of the 10000 block of East Southern Avenue.

Jeff Kamtz of Brissette Architects is the applicant for a site plan. V J Crismon LLC is the owner.

There is no outdoor or indoor seating, according to a project narrative

“Critically important to Salad and Go is the incorporation of a secondary drive-thru, which serves the fast-growing Internet/app ordering and pickup. This express pickup is both the current and future of the quick service industry as more and more customers are choosing to order and pay online,” it states.

The Mesa Design Review Board on Nov. 10 reviewed the proposed building elevations and landscape plan for the development and recommended modifications including to the landscape palette, City Planner Ryan McCann said in a memo to the planning and zoning board.

“Specifically, to include a more columnar tree along the east and west property lines, and also utilize a different color for the façade of the building. Staff will work with the applicant to include the recommended changes to the final design,” he said.
