Peoria City Manager Jeff Tyne has received a raise as well as an increase to deferred compensation and employer contribution.
The city council approved a 6% merit increase for a new annual base salary of $265,000, June 7. Additionally, the city agrees to pay him deferred compensation in the amount of $25,000.
Officials said the salary increase will more closely align Tyne with peer counterparts in the Valley.
All city council members voted in favor of the new contract except for Councilmember Denette Dunn.
Tyne has been with the city for 24 years and was appointed as city manager in June 2017.
City officials said his annual review was conducted in executive session and is therefore confidential.
Under A.R.S. § 38-431.03, the city has the right to have executives sessions for one of seven reasons:
• Personnel discussions
• Confidential records
• Legal advice
• Litigation, contract negotiations and settlement discussions
• Employee salary discussions
• Discussion regarding international, interstate and tribal negotiations
• Discussion regarding the purchase, sale or lease of real property.
