Mesa City council approves contract for pipeline, sewer repair services

The Mesa City Council voted 7-0 to approve a contract for emergency pipeline and sewer repair services for the water resources department at their May 19 meeting.

According to council documents, the one-year contract is valued at $800,000 annually. The contract will help emergency pipeline and sewer repair services for the city.

“This contract provides for emergency pipeline and sewer repair services, which is crucial for water utilities to efficiently address unexpected pipeline failures or damage. Having prequalified contractors ensures prompt responses, reducing downtime and preventing disruptions in the water supply,” council documents stated. “Covered tasks typically include excavation, pipeline repairs, valve operations and site restoration.”

Council documents recommended the council utilize the city of Scottsdale cooperative contract with WaCo LLC dba WaCo Contracting and Achen Gardner Construction LLC. The contract can be renewed for up to a maximum of four years subject to city of Scottsdale renewal and Mesa administrative review and approval. The contract is funded by Water and Wastewater Enterprise funds, Enterprise Capital funds, and Water and Wastewater Revenue Obligations.
