Mesa City Council approves $1.2M annual contract for natural gas supply

Posted

The Mesa City Council voted 7-0 to approve a contract for a mobile natural gas supply for the city’s Energy Resources Department at their recent meeting.

The council approved a three-year contract that will create a list of suppliers to provide a mobile gas supply during extreme weather events or maintenance, according to a council report.

“This contract establishes a list of qualified suppliers to provide mobile gas supply in support of the natural gas distribution system during extreme weather events and planned maintenance, helping to minimize service interruptions,” the council report states. “It will replace the existing mobile gas supply contract and expands service capabilities to meet the growing needs of the Energy Resource Department and the city’s industrial gas customers.”

The council report said that the contract will only be utilized when system support or direct customer assistance will be required.

The contract, valued at $1.2 million per year, will be awarded to the highest scoring proposals from Atlas Oil Co., Certarus (USA) Ltd., Rawhide Leasing Co. LLC. and REV LNG LLC.

The contract will be funded by the Energy Resources Department.
