Incumbent Attorney General Kris Mayes, a Democrat, has the early edge over challenger Warren Petersen (R-Gilbert).
The first batch of returns in the Nov. 3 election for Arizona attorney general shows a clear leader.
Incumbent AG Kris Mayes, a Democrat, garnered 940,104 votes, or 58.1%, while challenger Warren Petersen (R-Gilbert) has 676,977 votes, or 41.84%.
Petersen said, in a Sept. 23 debate, Mayes engages in "political lawfare," using her office to go after who she perceives as enemies. Mayes has countered that the suits she's filed have been necessary to protect the interests of Arizonans.
Mayes narrowly outpaced Abe Hamedeh in 2022 to win her first term as the state's attorney general.
