The city of Mesa experienced spot outages due to the worldwide mass IT outage caused by routine software updates from CrowdStrike that affected computers, but was able to restore services in the span of a few hours, according to a representative from the city.
The tech outage has been grounding flights and taking banks and media outlets offline worldwide.
“Overall, we experienced spot outages but nothing that impacted our public safety or utilities services,” Ana Pereira, the city of Mesa’s communications director, said in an email.
“Once the outage happened, Mesa police and Mesa fire and medical immediately switched to manual/radio dispatch and we were able to respond to emergencies without issues. Our IT department responded swiftly to the software outage and were able to get city of Mesa systems back up and running within a few hours,” she said.
