Gilbert is beginning a multiphase repair project at the Southeast Regional Library in September to address structural settling and moisture-related issues that have developed over time.
The library will remain open during construction, although temporary closures of individual sections may occur as work progresses through the building.
Town officials said the project is intended to maintain the safety, functionality and long-term use of the library.
The work includes repairs to the concrete floor slab, improvements to drainage around the building, repairs to the roof, windows and interior walls, installation of new ventilated carpeting, landscape maintenance and the removal of a tree that is encroaching on the roofline.
The tree is expected to be replaced in a different location after construction is completed. The project also includes repairs to trip hazards in and around the facility.
Construction is scheduled to take place in four phases over approximately four to six months, with completion anticipated in spring 2027.
Temporary fencing was being installed beginning Sept. 14 along the south and southeast sides of the building between the library and Water Ranch Lake.
Town officials said residents will be notified as each phase begins, including information about any temporary closures within the library.
