More Gilbert residents are seeking help to pay utility bills and stay afloat financially, with demand for assistance now approaching levels seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to AZCEND.
The local nonprofit is seeing a sharp rise in the number of households needing support, even as the amount of assistance provided per household remains lower than during the pandemic years.
“We’re seeing as many people come in for rent and utility support now as we saw during the pandemic,” AZCEND interim CEO Steve Hewitt said.
