Higley board member survives challenge from outside district

An out-of-district woman brought suit against a Higley Unified School District Governing Board member in an unsuccessful effort to remove her from the November ballot.

Tiffany Shultz will stand for reelection, the lone incumbent vying for one of three open seats on the board, after Judge Danielle Viola ruled July 25 that Shultz had enough valid signatures on her nominating petitions to qualify for the ballot.

A subsequent appeal of the ruling to the Arizona Supreme Court was withdrawn.
