Gilbert’s six-month pilot program using creative roadside traffic safety signs produced mixed results, with town officials reporting little measurable impact on crashes or speeding while still drawing strong public attention and debate.
Town staff presented the initial findings during a recent Gilbert Town Council study session, reviewing data from the program that ran from October 2025 through April 2026 at 10 intersections across town.
The signs featured seasonal slogans and humorous messages intended to encourage safer driving habits. Messages included reminders against texting while driving, speeding and distracted driving.
