Gilbert Town Council makes Buckland election official

Gilbert Town Council unanimously adopted the results of the 2024 election, making Kenny Buckland's election to council.

Buckland was then issued a certificate of election at a brief special meeting Nov. 21.

Buckland, a retired Gilbert Police commander, secured 52.19% of the vote against Aaron Accurso. The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors canvassed the elections earlier in the day.

Councilmember-elect Buckland will take office in January 2025. He will be joined by Mayor-elect Scott Anderson and Council-elect Monte Lyons, who won their seats during the August Primary Election. All three members were elected to serve four-year terms.

In addition to the council election, Gilbert voters also decided on Propositions 497 and 498. Proposition 497, which proposed a permanent base adjustment to the Town's current expenditure limit, was approved by a majority of voters. Proposition 498, which sought to create a Capital Projects Accumulation Fund exemption excluding capital improvement projects from the expenditure limit, was also approved.

This year, 148,021 Gilbert residents participated in the General Election or 84.98% of the town's registered voters.
