The town of Gilbert is seeking artists and artist teams to submit concepts for a new public art project planned for the Heritage District.
Led by Gilbert’s redevelopment team, the project calls for the design and fabrication of desert wildlife-themed art installations as part of an initiative known as the Critter Crawl. The installations are intended to function as small-scale “critter” sculptures placed throughout downtown.
The Critter Crawl is described as an interactive, scavenger hunt-style project aimed at encouraging residents and visitors to explore the Heritage District. Town officials say the initiative is intended to enhance connectivity within the area while highlighting Arizona’s desert wildlife through public art.
