Gilbert Public Schools will continue using its current 2-2-2 academic calendar structure for at least three more school years after the governing board unanimously approved calendars for 2027-28, 2028-29 and 2029-30.
The vote came May 7 after the board previously delayed action to consider whether the district should explore an alternative schedule that would split fall break between one week in October and Thanksgiving week instead of keeping a full two-week October break.
The discussion drew parents, teachers and community members to the board room, most of whom urged the board to stick with the current structure, which includes two weeks each for fall, winter and spring breaks.
