Gilbert opens applications for aquatics scholarships

Gilbert residents ages 17 and younger, including adaptive recreation participants, can apply now for the 2024 SRP Aquatics Scholarship. Selected recipients can use the funding toward fees for aquatics programming.

Some program restrictions apply. 

The Greenfield, Mesquite, Perry and Williams Field pools open to the public May 25. 

Gilbert Parks and Recreation will offer aquatics programming for people of all ages and abilities. Classes include swimming lessons, aquacise, diving, and much more. A full list of programs can be viewed and registration done at gilbertrecreation.com.

If selected for the scholarship, the members in qualifying households will be eligible for a 90% discount of program registration fees for each applicable aquatic season. These eligible participants are responsible for paying the remaining 10% of each class registration.  

How to apply

Residents should first fill out the 2024 SRP Aquatics Scholarship application, or by visiting https://glbrt.is/AquaticsScholarship

Then they should gather and submit copies of these documents:  

  • A copy of current Eligibility Notification Letter from Gilbert Public Schools or Higley Unified Schools Food Service Department if your child participates in the Free Lunch Program.;
  • Or a copy of any of the following Government Assistance verification documents: Unemployment Verification, Nutrition Assistance Verification, or WIC Assistance. 

All information submitted for the purposes of eligibility determination into the Fee Assistance Program is considered confidential and is not shared with staff working in the programs.

The application should then be sent by email to recreation@gilbertaz.gov or be mailed with verified documents to:

The eligibility of applicants will be determined and verified by email within five business days. If accepted into the program, you will be expected to pay the discounted fee at the time of purchase.
