Friends for Life's annual yard sale returns to Scentral Park

Posted

Friends for Life, a registered nonprofit, no-kill shelter located in Gilbert, will be hosting their annual yard sale Jan. 23-25 in its Scentral Park, 952 W. Melody Ave,, Gilbert.

Members of the community donate new and gently used items for four weeks prior to the sale.

Early birds get the “pick of the litter” with a $5 entry fee donation from 4;30-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. General sale dates are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Jan. 24-25.

“We get so excited to see the community involvement” Friends for Life Fundraising Director Amanda O’Fallon said.  “We start getting inquiries regarding when people can deliver their donations months in advance, and when they see the items others have donated, they save the date to come back and shop! All funds raised from this event directly benefit the dogs and cats that Friends for Life rescues.”

Each year, a Friends for Life rescued animal with special medical needs is the biggest beneficiary of the event.  The 2025 beneficiary is Starburst, who was found as a stray in Yuma.

Appearing lethargic after being rescued, the veterinary team discovered she was bleeding internally.  She received emergency surgery, from which she is making a full recovery.. However, the cost was more than $9,000.

Donations are currently being accepted.   Those interested in more information can visit Friends for Life Facebook page at:  www.facebook.com/AZfriendsforLife and click on the Events tab, visit the website at  azfriends.org/event/f4l-charity-yard-sale-early-bird/   or call 480-497-8296.
