Wiffle ball tourney at A.J. Chandler Park on Nov. 23

The Big League Wiffle Ball Series makes its way to downtown Chandler in late November.

The tournament is set for Saturday, Nov. 23, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., A.J. Chandler Park. It’s the third installment of the Big League Wiffle Ball Series’ BLW Chandler, welcoming wiffle ball teams from across the country, according to a news release.

“It’s a great excuse to come down to the ball field and bring your friends and family for a day of fun and friendly competition,” Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said, according to the release. “We can’t wait to see everyone come out to support the teams, cheer on our athletes and experience for themselves the excitement of this sport.”

There will also be community members, a live DJ and local vendors serving up snacks, refreshments and more.

Teams of three to five players of varying skill levels will compete across three divisions — franchise, competitive and recreational — in what’s described in the release as a fast-paced format.

Players can also compete in a home run derby.

Participating teams can work toward earning a spot in the Final Four tournament, set for Dec. 14 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, where the league’s top four teams will compete for a national title.

Chandler’s BLW event is one of five in the Big League Wiffle Ball Series, which 17-year-old Paradise Valley resident Logan Rose launched and created in 2020 as a way to encourage exercise and outdoor activity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teams looking to try their luck in the Chandler installment of the BLW tournament can register online here for $120 until Thursday, Nov. 21.

Early registration is encouraged, as spots are limited and likely to sell out.
