Honoring cultural customs that reserve storytelling for the winter season, each one-hour session invites guests to gather around the resort’s outdoor fire pit for an intimate journey into the history and wisdom of the Gila River Indian Community, according to a news release.
Tribal members will share ancestral legends rooted in the Sonoran Desert landscape, personal narratives from their lives on tribal lands and traditional songs passed down through generations.
Murals on the premises illustrate the heritage of the Gila River Indian Community, complemented by artwork crafted by community members and displayed throughout the property. The resort itself is designed in the shape of a bird -- with a river flowing throughout --that holds cultural significance.
