“M | otherworlds” is a group exhibition featuring regional Arizona artists who are also mothers.
It's on display through June 7 at the Vision Art Gallery in downtown Chandler, according to a news release.
The work in the show centers on the transitional space of new parenthood during the first years of postpartum, also referred to as matrescence, or mother-becoming, the release states.
“M | otherworlds” is also about creation, the creation of a new reality, the creation of a new self. Themes of identity, caretaking and imaginative world-building are woven throughout the works in this exhibit, the release states.
An opening reception was scheduled for March 21.
Vision Gallery is located at 10 E. Chicago Street, across the courtyard from both Chandler's main City Hall tower and the council chambers. Hours are Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed Sundays. There's no charge for admission.
