Chandler Center for the Arts hosting ‘Wizard of OZ’ auditions

Posted

Showtune Productions will host local adult auditions for the cast of its 2025 production of “The Wizard of OZ” in Chandler.

In anticipation of the auditions, Showtune Production’s Producer/Musical Director JR McAlexander and Artistic Director M. Seth Reines will host a free musical theater audition workshop for actors 18 and older at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave.

The workshop will offer audition tips to help attendees prepare for professional musical theater auditions, from song selection to performance, preparation of resumes and headshots to audition etiquette and attire.

In the spring, Showtunes and the CCA will present an ethnically diverse, fully staged production of “The Wizard of OZ,” with performances at the Chandler Center for the Arts on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, 2025.

Showtune Productions, creators of last season’s Chandler Center for the Arts’ sellout “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast,” will hold non-Equity adult auditions for their March live stage production of “The Wizard of OZ” from noon to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

Those auditioning, who must be 18 or older, should memorize 16 bars of a Broadway classic and bring sheet or iPad music in their key and a professional headshot and resume.

“The Wizard of OZ” will be a fully staged production with a live on-stage orchestra, scenic projections, costumes, and choreography.

All performers will be paid and must be available for all evening and full-day weekend rehearsals Jan. 2-5 and March 2-13 with three performances on March 14-15.
