Tempe to give Narcan to residents to help curb overdose deaths

When Alfred Gaines was experiencing an overdose years ago, someone in his inner circle immediately sprayed naloxone, better known as Narcan, into his nose.

Narcan is a nasal spray that delivers naloxone and is designed to reverse opioid overdoses quickly and can quickly restore normal breathing to a person if their breathing has slowed or stopped because of an opioid overdose.

Now, coming up on a year of sobriety, Gaines and the city of Tempe are ready to educate the public on how these medications can save a life.
