Tempe Police Department has released the names of the victim and suspect in the Aug. 16 officer-involved shooting that took place at The Meadows mobile home park.
Tempe Police wrote in a Sept. 11 statement the 77-year-old victim was Roland B. Jahnke. Robert Purdie, 55 and Jahnke’s stepson, was the suspect.
The Independent previously reported an officer shot Purdie before being arrested at the mobile home park after his mother called the police to report her husband’s murder. No officers were injured at that time.
“(Purdie) has not been officially charged due to him still receiving medical treatment. Once he is released from medical care, we will release his charges,” Tempe police stated.
Police are continuing to investigate the homicide, and the East Valley Critical Response Team is still investigating the officer-involved shooting.
