PORA, BNSF officials meet to discuss project’s concerns from seniors

Committee presents questions

BNSF Railway officials met with the Property Owners and Residents Association board of directors and railroad committee members this week to discuss plans for a $3.2 billion, 4,321-acre project in Wittmann that will include an intermodal facility, logistics park and logistics center.

The discussion involved concerns Sun City West residents have with the facility. PORA board Director David Hunter said when he first heard of this project, red flags went up among residents within the age-restricted community.

“PORA has publicly come out against the project, but we are happy you came so we can hear this side. We have never had any contact directly with BNSF, just outside agencies,” Hunter said.
