‘Ghost’ vehicle to patrol ASU’s Tempe campus
More planned for downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West campuses

INDEPENDENT NEWSMEDIA
A “ghost” vehicle will be used on Arizona State University’s Tempe campus to help enforce DUI and aggressive driver laws, ASU police said.
The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has awarded the Arizona State University Police Department a Ford Explorer Interceptor, valued at about $65,000, in an effort to reduce violations and aid those in need, according to an ASU release.
It is called a “ghost” car because it is white and has white reflective graphics.
“The bright color of the vehicle, as well as the numerous emergency lights on board, are intended to make the vehicle easily identifiable to anyone in need,” officials said.
“We are grateful to GOHS for their continued support of our campus safety initiatives,” ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson said.
There are plans for additional units to be sent to the downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic and West campuses later, according to the release.
