When Theresa Flores Calderon and her family moved to Surprise a few years ago, she was warned to keep her daughter out of Dysart Unified School District schools for various reasons.
Not knowing the area very well, Flores Calderon took the advice and enrolled her daughter at a charter school for kindergarten. But because the family moved to northwest Surprise, the long trek to take her to school everybody became too much.
So, the Surprise mom transfered her daughter to a DUSD school near their home.
