Surprise picking vice mayor tonight

Hastings could get first nod as second in command

Could this be the year Surprise City Councilmember Jack Hastings is selected as the city’s vice mayor?

Residents will find out tonight as the council selects its second in charge for the year at its regular meeting at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.

Hastings, who is in his first full term on the council, is the only member of those who served before this year to not have been picked for vice mayor. He has served the centrally located District 5 since 2020.
