Nowadays, when anything significant happens in the world, someone is always there to capture it on video, but one day this past September, rather than pulling out his phone, a bystander jumped in to action to rescue a woman from raging flood waters in Wittman.
Arizona Fire & Medical Authority officials honored Surprise resident David Scearce in Sun City West for his heroic actions with the AFMA Citizen Lifesaving Award Dec. 16.
That particular September day, Scearce was working heavy equipment in Buckeye, when the rain began to fall, forcing him to halt operations. He decided to go home, but could not sit around, so he decided to take out his jeep and drive.
