MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Petty Officer 3rd Class Gabriel Ramirez, a native of Surprise, serves aboard USS Cooperstown, a U.S. Navy warship that recently went underway on a scheduled deployment.
Ramirez, a 2022 graduate of Shadow Ridge High School, said the skills and values needed to succeed in the Navy are similar to those found in Surprise.
“Wrestling in high school taught me grit and hard work,” Ramirez said. “I also learned that life goes by fast, so do something fulfilling you can live without regrets. Home will always be there.”
